Ramos Paul Ramos Paul

A wine that tastes of tradition

The cellar's location, a thousand meters high and about twenty kilometers (12 miles)  in a straight line from the Strait of Gibraltar, transforms the vineyard into the ideal location for the production of red wine with a D.O. distinct to the southernmost region of continental Europe. The influence of both the Atlantic and the Mediterranean in in one of the Spanish valleys with the heaviest rainfall provides the precise qualities that have made Ramos-Paul wine one of  the world's top references for its exceptional quality and one-of-a-kind personality.  Ramos-Paul wine has hailed 91 and 92 points by acclaimed critic Robert Parker for its only two vintages that have been released on the market to date.

The pursuit of excellence on all levels makes this the only winery that produces Ramos-Paul wine, after discarding anything that might not be within the desired quality standards and the possibility of producing a wine of inferior quality.
Both the harvesting process, completed by hand in 19 kg (42 lb) crates, and the production and aging are cared for to the maximum, with an important selection of grapes that does not make the slightest influence on what the vineyard can produce. In addition, the finest French oak barrels are used for aging and are arranged within the tunnels situated beneath the ancient Roman city of Acinipo. Its personality extends to its label, which features an 18th-century Manila shawl.

Ramos-Paul is ultimately a terroir wine that reveals the history of the weather and its interaction with the earth in every vintage, creating a unique personality within our country and allowing us to compete with wines from regions with such renown as Bordeaux, California, South Africa and others worldwide.

In short, it is an ideal wine for a long bottle life with a safe long-term value that can currently be found in the United States, Russia, Singapore, Canada, Mexico, and much of Europe.

A dream in the mountains

The Ramos-Paul winery has established itself as the best red wine in Andalusia, not only because of the quality of its wine--which is most valued by the American critic Robert Parker--but also for having managed to place it in sixteen countries, where there is talk of Ramos-Paul as the best known winery from southern Spain in the production of quality red wine.

In 1999, the marriage of Paul Ramos Ruano Nane and Pilar Martínez-Laffitte Mejias set the stage to pursue this project and build this winery located between  the Grazalema and Sierra de las Nieves mountain ranges, just below Old and Roman Ronda known as Acinipo, which means "land of vineyards."The natural paradise that protects this winery keeps its secret of an ideal microclimate in a remote place with a reminiscences of old Andalusia, where it seems that time has stopped and echoes of old bandits can be heard in the wind.

The Ramos-Paul 2005 is a complex and elegant wine with a personality inherited  from  its vineyards located no more than 25 km (16 miles) from the Strait of Gibraltar and a thousand meters high, with the influence of both the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. The features that give it its four varieties (Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot) and the environment in which they are located have been transforming the Ramos-Paul wine into the figurehead of what many are now referring to as the new Spanish "Napa Valley."
